Many people who undertake caring roles are drawn to the role because they want to make a positive difference to people’s lives. For foster carers, making that positive difference can mean witnessing, understanding, and having to process the out-working of a young person’s experience of various traumatic events. To provide effective and compassionate care, it is essential that foster carers are properly supported to help to protect them from the potential negative impacts of the role they have.
