Adopted adults over 18 years old can access their birth records and you can add your details to the Contact Register.
If you were adopted in Northern Ireland, your local Health and Social Care (HSC) Trust or registered adoption agency can provide a counselling service to support you make connections with your birth family through providing an intermediary service.
We also provide a similar service to birth parents by providing information from your records, advise you on the process of making contact with your birth child(ren) and provide an intermediary service during the contact process if you wish to avail of this. We recognise this will be an emotional time for you, we will provide you with the emotional support you require.
