Making the Move – Transitions in Fostering & Adoption

Description
This course is designed for both Foster Carers; in preparation for moving a child to their adoptive families, and for Adoptive Families; who are awaiting the placement of a child. As this is a time of great change for all, we consider the move, from the perspective of the child, the foster carer and the adoptive family.
In doing so we will highlight the importance of a child centred and thoroughly planned transition period.
The session will look at practical issues involved when moving a child from foster care to their adoptive family and give consideration to the importance of life story work, narrative work, the adoptive family welcome pack and how best to explain to the child that they are moving to their Adoptive Family.
