We are seeking foster carers within the Lisburn, Down, North Down and Ards areas for Zuzanna*, age 13.
Zuzanna is a quiet girl. She is tall and thin with brown hair and brown eyes. She is originally from Poland but has been living in Northern Ireland since 2019. Her first language is not English, however she can communicate clearly and has a solid understanding of English. Zuzanna needs a short term foster home with a view to longer term care.
Zuzanna is a high energy child who likes to have a lot of one to one attention from her carers, however she is also content by herself although she doesn’t enjoy silences.
Zuzanna is an active young person and can be immature in her outlook and interests. Zuzanna is intelligent and had always responded well to boundaries and routine until her move to a residential unit. Unfortunately, Zuzanna’s school attendance has recently declined after a history of excellent school attendance. The hope is that with the stability of a home environment this will improve. One foster carer would need to be at home full time in the shorter term to help Zuzanna integrate back into school in September.
Zuzanna has a matter of fact way of speaking and when she is upset she can be quite blunt, usually towards classmates or other children. Zuzanna has a good sense of humour, and usually her direct speaking style adds to this. Zuzanna can find it difficult in a group setting and struggles to make friendships.
Zuzanna is very conscious of her hygiene; she needs no prompting in her self-care and occasionally showers twice a day. Her room is always clean, and usually tidy. However, if she is upset this will reflect in the presentation of her bedroom. Her sleep routine can be sporadic but she usually will sleep for around 8 – 10 hours a night.
Zuzanna really enjoys being physically active; she loves exercising and being fit. She also loves animals, especially dogs and horses. Some of Zuzanna’s favourite treats are getting her hair or nails done and she likes new clothes. She also enjoys visits to the local Open Farm.
Zuzanna would like to live in a foster home with active foster carers, and possibly with older children who share her interests like animals, football, or dance. Foster carers who are tuned into the behaviours of adolescents or who have grown up children who have moved on would be ideal for Zuzanna.
Zuzanna’s foster carers will receive a fee of £13,000 per annum plus fostering allowances and will be fully supported by the fostering team.
