Our family of three (we had one birth child) grew seven years ago when we welcomed two siblings under two into our family through fostering then adoption. From the beginning we strongly felt that keeping siblings together where possible was the right thing to do.
Over the years we have watched our two youngest benefit from sharing their life stories, their birth family history, and experiences that only they fully understand – like going to contact with their birth parents. Growing up alongside someone who looks like them also helps with their sense of identity.
It warms our hearts when we see not only the strength of the bond between them but also the close bond each of them has with our older child. They see themselves as a sibling group of three, and that means the world to us.
