As part of Child Exploitation Awareness Day, HSC NI foster carers have access to a series of new awareness videos in the latest update to the ‘Fostering in a Digital World’ App.
The App is available for all HSC NI foster carers to download and use. It provides essential child protection information to foster carers and social workers and the aim of the latest videos is to help foster carers identify and respond to the threat of child sexual exploitation.
The App was created and is maintained by INEQE Safeguarding Group, an independent safeguarding organisation providing expert-led training and technology to protect children and vulnerable adults.
Elaine Somerville, one of HSC’s Interim Assistant Directors for Cared for Children said:
“We are committed to supporting all foster carers in Northern Ireland to be aware of the signs of child sexual exploitation. The Fostering in A Digital World App is a powerful example of how technology can support families and social workers to protect children from harm. If you don’t already have access to the App, there has never been a better time to download it.”

If a member of the public has concerns about a child, they should contact NSPCC Adults Helpline or the PSNI.
