30th April 2025
Rosie* is a caring, well-mannered and playful 11-year-old with long blonde hair and a beautiful smile. Her foster carers describe her a ‘girly’ girl who loves fashion, takes pride in her appearance and enjoys having her hair plaited. Rosie has recently developed an interest in skin-care products and has good self-care skills. She has a healthy appetite and enjoys trying new foods, yet she is just as content with a simple bowl of stew.
Rosie is currently in Primary 7, and she is actively involved in after-school activities, such as Be Active and football. Despite an unsettled start to her early education, Rosie continues to make great process with the support of her carers and is proud of her achievements to date. Rosie’s teacher describes her as a lovely and respectful child who is eager to please, keen to learn and excited about making the transition to secondary school in September. Her academic strengths lie within mental maths and she is skilled at recalling her times tables, though she requires some additional guidance and support in English comprehension.
Rosie is full of adventure and keen to try new things. She loves spending time outdoors or playing at the local park. Rosie also enjoys gymnastics and showing off new moves she has learnt in class, as well as dancing to music and singing, and is known for her beautiful singing voice.
Rosie has a love for card games like UNO and board games which provide opportunities to bond with her foster carers. She also enjoys art to express her creativity, including Toka Boka, an interior design game where she can design her dream home and include her foster carers and picture them as a family living together. Rosie loves spending time with her carers’ dogs, enjoying their companionship and the comfort they bring.
Rosie is considered a chatty young girl who likes to be the centre of attention and who benefits from the reassurance of a consistent routine.
Rosie has demonstrated great strength in expressing her thoughts and feelings about her home life. She continues to see her mum, dad, and younger brother, and this time with her family is important to her.
Rosie played a key caring role in her brother’s life so it is important that she now gets the opportunity to be nurtured and cared for in a supportive environment that builds her confidence and self-esteem.
Rosie needs a long-term foster home in the Southern area where she can feel part of a family and the wider community to enhance her sense of belonging. Her foster carers will provide her with the love and understanding she deserves, whilst also supporting her in maintaining contact with her parents.
As Rosie’s foster carer(s), you will receive:
- full training in all aspects of being a foster carer
- fostering allowances
- support from your supervising social worker as well as Rosie’s social worker (including out-of-hours support)
- paid membership of The Fostering Network to ensure you are protected, connected and supported in your role as a foster carer.
