We are currently looking for a foster home for Noah*, a bright and affectionate 6-year-old boy who is in need of stability and care.
Noah is an active little boy with brown hair who enjoys connection and affection – he particularly likes hugs and one-to-one attention from adults. He has a mild learning disability and a Statement of Special Educational Needs. Sadly, Noah has faced a difficult start in life, including several placement moves. Although this has impacted on his development and emotional wellbeing, Noah continues to show warmth and the ability to build relationships when he feels safe and supported.
Transitions and hearing “no” can be difficult for Noah, and he benefits from clear communication, advance warnings, and consistent boundaries and routines. At times, Noah’s behaviour can be challenging, particularly in the late afternoon when he is tired. He can sometimes become disruptive or physically aggressive and needs to be supervised, especially around other children. Noah has recently been referred for a joint ADHD/ASD assessment.
At present, Noah is not attending school, as he found the long journey on transport challenging. Work is underway to identify a more suitable educational setting closer to home, and it is hoped this will be in place soon.
Noah usually goes to bed around 7:30pm during term time. He enjoys time on his iPad or looking at books before sleeping. He generally sleeps through the night and wakes early.
Like many children his age, Noah needs support with safety awareness and requires close supervision, particularly near roads. He also needs some help with personal care, including occasional toileting accidents and reminders around hygiene, though he is making steady progress with the right support.
Noah wears glasses for astigmatism and attends regular optician appointments. He can sometimes be a little careless with them, so having a spare pair is helpful. He also has mild asthma and uses a Ventolin inhaler during colds, although this is rarely needed.
In terms of play, Noah enjoys toys, games, and especially playing with cars. He loves “DIY” play with toy tools and also likes playing football. He thrives on one-to-one interaction and really benefits from positive adult engagement.
Noah has a good appetite and enjoys a wide range of foods, particularly fruit, cheese and tomatoes. As with many children, food can sometimes be a trigger for frustration, especially if expectations aren’t met. Limiting sugary foods can help him stay more settled.
Noah has monthly supervised contact with his mother and maintains regular contact with his siblings.
Ideally, Noah would thrive in a home with two foster carers where he can receive dedicated attention, either as the only child or alongside older children who understand his needs. Above all, Noah is an affectionate little boy who simply needs the chance to feel safe, settled, and cared for. With patience, consistency, and warmth, he has so much potential to thrive and flourish.
There will be wraparound support provided to Noah’s foster carers which will include:
- A specialist fee in addition to regular fostering allowances
- Therapeutic support from South Eastern Trust’s Scaffold service
- Access to a wide variety of trauma informed training which will support you in providing therapeutic care to Noah
- Support from a supervising social worker
- Regular short breaks will be explored
If you have a spare bedroom and feel you could offer Noah the stability and care he needs, we would love to hear from you.
