Joseph* is a lovely 8-year-old boy who requires a short-term foster home within the Northern area.
Joseph enjoys rough and tumble play like bouncing on your knee or getting tickled, and trips to the local park. He loves In the Night Garden (Iggle Piggle in particular) and his favourite song is Baby Shark.
Joseph has a diagnosis of Severe Learning Disability, Autism and is currently awaiting an assessment for ADHD. Joseph uses a communication book brilliantly when prompted and will lead his carer to what he wants. He attends a special school in the wider Antrim area and it would be best for him if he could remain there, if possible.
Some of Joseph’s favourite foods include burgers, pancakes, lasagne, and a chicken nuggets happy meal as a treat. He prefers to come back and forth to his food, eating it on the go rather than sitting at a table however with consistency, a good routine and encouragement, this could be easily changed.
Joseph goes to bed around 8pm and has an Iggle Piggle teddy, pineapple cushion and soft blanket as comforters in bed. Following a bedtime story, Joseph usually falls asleep within 15 minutes. Joseph wears pull ups but will take his carer by the hand and follow them down to the toilet when asked to get changed. It is felt that with consistency, Joseph could use the toilet.
Joseph has family time each week with his sibling and parent.
Joseph’s foster carer(s) will receive financial support (which will include an additional fee alongside fostering allowances), ongoing social work support, as well as training and development opportunities.
