**NEW** Could you foster Joe, 6?

22nd January 2026

Joe* is a 6 year old boy (although he is almost 7). His foster carers describe him as bright, intelligent and inquisitive. He loves his Kindle that he uses to listen to music and watch videos on Youtube. He has a natural affinity for music and this brings him so much joy. Joe also enjoys singing and dancing with him recently joining the school choir. Joe has a spinning chair that he loves to sit on and go really fast on. He also loves to play with his toy cars, dinosaurs and puzzles. He is always eager to play a tune on his toy guitar and beams in amusement at his own reflection in the mirror.

Joe has a sensitive and gentle demeanour and endearing personality. He charms with his beautiful smile and his hearty laughs. Beneath his shy exterior lies a brave boy, as Joe shows courage and determination to life’s inevitable challenges. He experiences the world through his sensory system but never doubt his abilities because he is exceptionally curious and inquisitive and has an excellent memory. Joe has a diagnosis of Autism and he would also show signs of developmental delay. He finds it difficult to communicate verbally what he needs, however he is finding his own little ways and is attending Speech and Language Therapy for support and improving every day. Joe always makes it known what he wants and he is verbalising more and more.

Joe has also had a difficult start to his young life which means it can take him time to build relationships with those around him. When he does, Joe is very affectionate and he loves giving his foster carers tight hugs and likes to cuddle in close when watching one of his cartoon shows. He also loves some rough and tumble play and to be tickled. His foster carers talk so enthusiastically about Joe and his wonderful personality. They really want him to find his long-term foster family and support him in this move as much as possible.

Since moving into foster care, it is clear that with the love and security that he needs, Joe has the potential to thrive. Joe would benefit from being the only child or the youngest child in his home, with a significant age gap to ensure he gets the time and attention he will need.
