**NEW** Could you foster Eddy (8)?

3rd November 2025

Eddy* is a lovely 8-year-old boy with blue eyes and red hair. He requires a short-term foster home within the Northern area.

Eddy enjoys rough and tumble play like bouncing on your knee or getting tickled, and trips to the local park. He loves In the Night Garden (Iggle Piggle in particular), Toy Story and his favourite song is Baby Shark. He enjoys coming home from school and watching YouTube on the TV.

Eddy has a diagnosis of Severe Learning Disability, Autism and is currently awaiting an assessment for ADHD. Eddy uses a communication book brilliantly when prompted and will lead his carer to what he wants. He attends a special school in the wider Antrim area and it would be best for him if he could remain there, if possible.

Eddy is a very loveable boy, with a great personality. He is lots of fun to be around and loves lots of attention and can get overexcited sometimes. He is a clever child who loves to engage with puzzles, number games, letters, action songs and can be affectionate. He enjoys deep pressure massages and can be a very busy child on the go constantly.

Eddy now eats a variety of foods and dinners but some of Eddy’s favourite foods include burgers, pancakes, lasagne, and a chicken nuggets happy meal as a treat. He prefers to come back and forth to his food, eating it on the go rather than sitting at a table however with consistency, a good routine and encouragement, this could be easily changed.

Eddy goes to bed around 8pm and has a teddy and soft blanket as comforters in bed. Following a bedtime story, Eddy usually falls asleep within 15 minutes. Eddy wears pull ups but will take his carer by the hand and follow them down to the toilet when asked to get changed. It is felt that with consistency, Eddy could use the toilet.

Eddy has family time twice each week with his sibling and parent.

Eddy’s foster carer(s) will receive financial support (which will include an additional fee alongside fostering allowances), ongoing social work support, as well as training and development opportunities.
