We are seeking a supported lodgings/STAY host for Jim*, age 17 in the Western area. Supported lodgings provides care experienced young people with a safe and suitable living environment, where they can receive support and develop the practical, emotional and relationship skills needed for a successful transition to independence.
Jim is a young man of medium build, with blue eyes, long light brown hair and is in relatively healthy shape. He is an extremely friendly and positive person who engages better with adults than his peers.
Jim currently goes to South West College. He attends every day and hopes to get into Queen’s University, Belfast after college. He is studying computer and games design. Jim is very intelligent and prides himself on how he upholds his good/positive morals and values. Jim enjoys a cup of tea and a conversation after college. He will ask genuine questions about your day, he’ll talk about his day and he’ll ask questions about your loved ones for example.
Jim loves superheroes, cartoons and games. Jim spends much of the time on his gaming PC and he’s very content with his own company. He also likes going to the cinema and small drives out. Recently, Jim has started going to the gym which he’s enjoying.
Jim has a diagnosis of ASD and ADHD, so he struggles with timing and some living skills, like cooking. He does require support like getting up for college or cooking but he’s very thankful of the support provided and will say thank you often.
Jim has contact with his mum and aunt. His aunt will provide short breaks for Jim during the holidays. Contact is always positive between Jim’s mum and aunt.
As a supported lodgings host, you will receive ongoing training and support, and the young person will also benefit from wraparound support from a multi-professional team. Hosts will receive a monthly payment to contribute towards rent, food and utilities.
Ideally, Jim’s host would live in Omagh or the surrounding area as long as there is a transport link for him to continue to attend college.
