We are seeking an adoptive family for Lucy* (age 4) anywhere in Northern Ireland.
Lucy is the loveliest little girl who just loves to play and be outside. She is always on the go and one of her favourite things to do is play with her tuff tray, where she enjoys pouring the rice and listening to the sound it makes. Lucy also loves to climb and explore when she is outside in the garden or when she visits the park. On the days when it’s raining she loves to put on her waterproof clothes and jump in puddles. When she wants to relax and have some down time she loves to cuddle with her foster carers in the evening and watch some Cocomelon on her tablet. Lucy’s carers have a campervan and she loves it when they take trips together to the beach.
Lucy is doing so well and has made a lot of progress since moving to her foster home. Lucy is in P1 and attends a Special School and has a statement of Special Educational needs. She skips into school every day with a big smile on her face. She likes to explore all the activities on offer and she particularly enjoys spending time outdoors at break time. When she comes home she likes to play some more and she loves singing nursery rhymes with her carers before settling down for the evening. Lucy usually sleeps well through the night which means she is ready to take on all of her adventures for the next day.
Lucy’s care during her early years was unsettled and inconsistent due to frequent moves and challenging family circumstances. Lucy was initially scared and wary in her new home but she has been able to develop a trusting relationship with her foster carers. Lucy is generally very healthy but she does have some developmental delay, particularly relating to her speech. She is, however, able to communicate her needs and feelings and she will take her carer’s hand to show them what she wants and is very clever at using facial expressions to the same end!
Lucy needs a family who can understand and make sense of her past experiences and can then provide the right kind of care that will allow her to continue to grow and thrive. With this care Lucy will be able to build on her existing strengths. This will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals to ensure she is given very opportunity to meet her full developmental potential.
“Lucy is a beautiful child who is so easy to love. She has a smile that lights up a room and leaves footprints on our hearts. She can communicate her needs and thanks you with her smile, she’s a darling child.” – Lucy’s foster carer |
“I look forward to my visits with Lucy. She is such a sweet little girl with the biggest widest smile that would just melt your heart.” – Lucy’s social worker |
