19th December 2024
Our fostering families were treated to fun-filled parties for foster children and fostering families organised by our locality fostering teams throughout December. There were so many activities for the children to enjoy at each party, including soft play, bowling, a visit from Santa, decorating biscuits, making reindeer food, boogying at the disco, nail art, and an Elf Scavenger hunt to name but a few!
Some of our children were also lucky to have the opportunity to brush up on their rugby skills with Ethan McIlroy, James McNabney and Rob Baloucoune from Ulster Rugby who came along to Northern’s party in Ballymena.
“I had an amazing time meeting all the children at the fostering party. It meant a lot to me seeing the kids having a great time with smiles on their faces near Christmas. I enjoyed throwing a ball about and playing some games with them,” said Ethan.
Mayor of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, Beth Adger, who herself was a foster carer and adopter, also kindly attended this event.
Western’s team joined up with The Fostering Network to acknowledge the achievements of our young people at their event. Foster care staff joined the families in celebrating the progress made by the children with each child receiving a certificate. Supported by Western Trust’s Chief Executive, Neill Guckian and Director, Tom Cassidy, the event was a great start to the Christmas season.
Here’s a taste of what we’ve been up to this festive season:
