Could you foster Beth (7)?

1st May 2025

Beth* is 7 years old with long blonde hair that flows down her back. She has hazel eyes and the most infectious smile. Beth is a very energetic child who loves cuddles and affection and spending lots of one to one time with the adults who care for her.

Beth is in short-term foster care which will end in June 2025. Beth requires a long-term home to grow up in until she can live independently.

Beth is a loveable little girl, full of fun and energy. She loves having a laugh and has got a great personality. Beth loves attention from adults and can be very chatty asking lots of questions. She loves playing with other children, though sometimes can be overexcited and a little overbearing with her peers.

Beth loves affection and having one on one time with her foster carer. She is caring and will make cards and crafts for her carers.

Beth is in P3 at Primary School where she feels safe and really enjoys. She has excellent attendance and excellent relationships with her teacher and classroom assistants.  Remaining at her school would be very important for Beth. She has made great progress with her peers at school this year. Beth is doing well in subjects – she does have some speech delay and hearing difficulty which can impact her. School are helping her with her sounds. Beth loves to participate in all school performing activities and especially likes singing and when her familiar adults come to see her in the audience.

Beth is talented at sport. She especially loves gymnastics. Beth will practise gymnastics all day long if she could. She loves to show her headstands, cartwheels and back flips. She attends a gymnastic club and competes in competitions. Practising her gym moves is important to her.

Beth loves fashion, hairstyles and jewellery. She has her own unique taste and loves shopping for new clothes. Beth likes to dress older than her age, she needs guidance with this but picking her own clothes is very important to her. Beth loves to listen to pop music such as Tayler Swift and Sabrina Carpenter. She will sing and dance along to her favourite songs. Beth is a good eater and loves being taken for a Frappuccino as a treat.

Beth has experienced trauma and separation in her young life both from experiences prior to coming into care and a number of moves within the care system. Beth needs foster carers who have an understanding of her experiences and how they continue to impact her, for instance when she is feeling unsafe and insecure she will express emotional behaviours that can be challenging. However, Beth thrives from receiving consistent and calm parenting.

Beth would be best suited to living in a two adult household, where she can have one on one time with her foster carer. Beth can live with other children in the home, some in and around her age or older but not overly younger would be the preference. Beth’s foster carers are not expected to be at home full-time as she is at school.

Beth has fortnightly contact with her father and also sees her grandmother fortnightly.

Beth’s foster carers will receive fostering allowances and an additional fee paid per annum, alongside ongoing social work support and training and development opportunities.
