Charlie* is 13 years of age. He is a friendly and well-mannered young man who presents younger than his age.
Charlie is in good health, has a good appetite and a stable night-time routine which assists good sleeping. He has a good diet, eats a wide range of foods and is encouraged to eat healthily.
Charlie would often present as exuberant, showing signs of excitement and high energy levels. This has been well managed by positive routines and outdoor activities.
Charlie is very good at articulating his feelings. If he feels upset or down he can talk to adults and seeks out reassurance. In the past, Charlie would have become upset quickly. He has made positive progress in terms of regulating his emotions by, for example, identifying when he needs some time away from a group setting or using breathing techniques.
Charlie likes to be prepared in advance of any changes to his routine at school or at home. He does not like people shouting at him or around him and can lead to him becoming upset or withdrawing from a group situation. Charlie can be affectionate once comfortable with individuals and enjoys building relationships.
Charlie is commencing Year 9. He settled well into High School and appears to be managing the workload. Academically the school report Charlie is doing well. He is being assessed for ADHD and has an Educational Statement in place. He receives additional supports which include a classroom assistant who stays with Charlie during break and lunch times. He has a good relationship with his classroom assistant and can tell her if he is feeling stressed/worried or overwhelmed.
Charlie’s hobbies include spending time with those he lives with, as well as playing on his PS5 and his VR headset. He also likes to listen to music.
Charlie’s foster carer(s) will receive financial support, ongoing social work support, as well as training and development opportunities.
