Could you foster Lola (12)?

13th August 2025

Lola* is a bright and bubbly 12-year-old girl who will be turning 13 in the coming months. She has brown eyes, shoulder-length brown hair, a warm smile, and an infectious laugh. Lola is kind, thoughtful, well-mannered, and full of personality. She is now in need of a long-term foster home that can offer her the stability and support she needs to grow and thrive.

Lola is outgoing and loves spending time with her friends and family. She has a wide range of interests including camogie, football and tennis. She also enjoys relaxing by drawing, colouring, playing games on her laptop, and watching TV. Lola is starting Year 9 and is enthusiastic about school, taking pride in her perfect attendance. Remaining in her current school is very important to her. Her favourite subjects are PE and drama, and she’s excited to audition for a role in the school play next term.

Lola has a passion for fashion, music and make-up. She enjoys experimenting with new make-up looks and loves bonding with others over shared music tastes. One of her dreams is to attend her first concert. She enjoys keeping busy with fun activities like shopping, going to amusement parks, visiting the cinema and swimming in the sea. She’s also an animal lover, especially fond of dogs and enjoys helping to take care of them, including walking them.

At times, Lola finds it difficult to express her emotions and may struggle to open up. However, she is making progress and has begun to confide more in trusted adults, which helps her feel better. Lola is caring and family-oriented; she enjoys catching up with her siblings and often asks how they are doing. She tends to focus more on others than herself and loves giving gifts to her loved ones. Her family visits from England around 4–5 times a year, which is typically a positive experience for her.

Lola would benefit most from a foster home in the North Coast area, ideally in or around Coleraine, Ballymoney, Ballycastle  or Ballymena so she can continue attending her current school. Her foster carer(s) does not need to be home full-time, as she is in school during the day.

Lola’s foster carer(s) will receive financial support, ongoing social work support, as well as training and development opportunities.
